What's Sew South?

It's a modern sewing retreat in Charlotte, NC.

It's a super fun weekend with friends old and new.

It's sewing for the fun of it and making something for yourself.

It's dusting off that WIP and having the time to make some headway!

It's laughing, chatting, giggling, making connections, being creative, being yourself.

It's staying up late or going to bed early, no cooking, no cleaning, no chores- just fun!

It's creative, it's inspiring, it's relaxing.

It's just the place for you!

(Check out the pics from last year on Instagram at #sewsouth or our Sew South Flickr group!)

Whether your come alone or come with friends, Sew South is a great weekend get-away. And as much as it is about the sewing (for which it is a lot) it's about the people, the connections and the friendships made.
50 friendly faces, sewing together for three days - it's full of energy, full of creativity, full of fun.

  • Lunch Friday and Saturday

The cost for 3 people per room is $160.  There is a small block of rooms reserved so make your reservation early.
*Sharing a room is a great way to save $ and have fun at the same time! If you are coming solo, don’t worry. Folks often find roommates via our Sew South flickr group.
The Workshops:
With 50 people of all levels, taking the same class, Sew South workshops are all about making something for yourself. Sew South workshops give you the opportunity to make something fun, something pretty, something for you.
I’m really excited that one of the Sew South classes will be taught by the wonderful and talented Amy Gibson of Stitchery Dickory Dock. Amy, a new author, seasoned quilter, Craftsy designer and all-around fabulous person will be teaching our Quilting Workshop!
The other Sew South class will be led by the super sweet and fun Valerie Luberecki and myself. We're super excited about leading the group in making super cute ruffled aprons. We have a vision friends and it's going to be so fun!
There will be group seating this year in tables of 4. The new layout will allow for more conversation, fun games at the tables and a friendly competition or two.
We do several swaps at Sew South too - all of which are optional but all are a lot of fun!
You asked and I deliver! Sew South folks wanted more free sewing time to work on their own projects so I've built in lots of that this year.  Take a look at the sample schedule at to get an idea of what the weekend will look like.
Sew South Tickets:
Tickets are $350.
Tickets are nonrefundable but are transferable up until April 1, 2015.

The Hotel
Sew South 2015 is at the Embassy Suites in Concord NC, just outside of Charlotte, NC.
Did I mention the hotel has  a spa on site? Fancy a massage or facial? How about a mani/pedi? Just book an appointment downstairs! How great is that?
Want to shop for fabric (and let's be honest- who doesn't?) There's a great quilt shop just down the street!
Want to shop at IKEA? That's only 15 minutes away!
Antiques more your thing? There's The Depot at Gibson Mill 20 minutes from the hotel. It's a huge place where you can get junk drunk on all the treasures!
